Thursday 29th September see’s the return of The Countryman Inn, Shipley’s world (well locally at least) famous Curry Night. As well as all the regular curry dishes The Countryman Pub offers on their special curry nights, there will be a definite southern Asian and oriental feel to the evening with plenty of Noodle dishes available.

As always, the curry night will feature various curries from places around the world including Thailand, Malaysia, Goa, India and Morocco. All of The Countryman curries are served with naan, chapatti or pitta and all the accompaniments.

The cost of the evening is just £10 for the buffet and you can make your own ‘Thani’ with a little bit of each or just enjoy your favourite from the buffet, the choice is yours!

The Countryman Inn, Shipley, is proud to announce that due to the bumper number of crops being produced in our own garden, combined with additional produce supplied to us by local gardeners in the village, we are now able to offer a variety of fruit and vegetable boxes for sale in our shop.

Each box will contain an assortment of fruit and vegetable and will vary day-to-day, week-t0-week, depending on what is currently being harvested. We will be selling these in three different sizes, small, medium and large for £5, £7.50 and £10 respectively. Although as mentioned, the contents will always vary, a typical box may contain the following:

The August Bank Holiday is synonymous in this country with getting away for a long weekend, more often that not, dampened by terrible weather, but nonetheless a chance to get away from things. With the recession still hitting us hard, The Countryman Inn, Shipley (near Horsham) is offering a cheap alternative to getting away by hosting a Caribbean Day on Thursday 25th August.

On Wednesday 10th August, The Countryman Inn, Shipley will be holding their BBQ & Morris Dance Garden Party. The BBQ will be in the country pub garden from 6.30pm with the singing and dancing of  the Sompting Village Morris starting at 8pm.

On Thursday 28th July, The Countryman Inn, Shipley (near Horsham) is hosting it’s very own Mediterranean Day with Tapas, Paella and Sangria.

As you know, The Countryman Pub takes it’s themed nights seriously and this night will be no different with an array of starters and snacks inspired by Spanish Tapas, Greek Meze and Italian Pasta.

Sharing platters will be served for groups wanting the true Mediterranean experience and Rioja, Peroni and Pinot Grigio will be on hand for those of you wishing to drink the Mediterranean way!

On Saturday 16th July, Elkie Brooks will be headlining an open air concert at Knepp Castle, near Horsham, West Sussex, in aid of the Amber Foundation. Elkie Brooks is celebrating her 50th anniversary tour and has agreed to include the Amber concert in her busy schedule. Elkie is famous for her husky voice and hits such as “Pearl’s a Singer” and “Sunshine After the Rain” and is sure to put on a superb show!

The Amber Foundation supports homeless and unemployed young adults, giving them stability and motivation to kick-start their lives. They provide them with training to gain the skills they need to gain employment and a safe environment for those that have misused drugs and alcohol to sort out problems, build confidence and start a fresh.

The Vegetable Garden and Polytunnel at The Countryman Inn, Shipley is now in full production with Broad Beans, Tomatoes, New Potatoes, Cabbage, Courgettes and much more growing very well!

You may or may not be aware, but 95% of the produce used at The Countryman Inn, near Horsham come from a 10 mile radius or is home grown/produced. This is part of our commitment to producing and using the freshest local ingredients.

The project has been such a huge success that we will be expanding into a second polytunnel in the Autumn allowing us a bigger capacity for growing vegetables and produce to use in all our meals.

We have already started our winter vegetables off in our greenhouse to protect them from the elements with Brussels Sprouts nearly ready to go into the main plot! These should then be ready for the first week in December.

On Saturday 25^th June, The Countryman Inn, Shipley will be hosting their annual Hog Roast in the pub garden and the weather is set to be nice and sunny!

The event, now in its 10^th year is a cross between a garden party and a BBQ with amazing food all-day and live music from 6pm onwards.

The focal point of the day will of course be the incredible spit-roasted Hog, but this will be complemented with sausages and burgers. A pork bap from the hog roast will cost £4 or if you fancy something from the whole BBQ it will cost you just £10.
